Request a Preliminary Planning Review for a Building Permit Application
Prior to submitting your online building permit application to the online portal, a preliminary planning review form completed by the Planning Department is required. To request a preliminary planning review form, please complete the following three steps:
STEP ONE: download, fill out, and scan the property declaration form (available here). Helpful tip: If you don’t have a scanner, take a photo of each page.
STEP TWO: Complete and submit the webform below. Be sure to upload the requested documents and provide all of the required information.
STEP THREE: Once received, the Planning Department will review your submission and will provide you with a completed preliminary planning review form by email to the email address provided. The preliminary planning review form will indicate if you may proceed with submitting a building permit application or if planning-related approvals are required prior to making a building permit application. We will contact you if we have questions or require additional information to process your request.
Please note, preliminary planning reviews are answered in the order in which they are received. Due to high volume of submissions, the current response time is approximately 3 business days.
We suggest requesting your preliminary planning review with the form below, however, you may also email the required information to askplanning [at] rdn.bc.ca (askplanning[at]rdn[dot]bc[dot]ca).
